My ministry of rum coffee mug.

We have a small refrigerator under the desk of an empty cube. I added the sticker.

Two little additions to my office space. Yankee Candle tea light holders; a gift from my friend Michelle.

My Aloha Elvis Fridge magnet.

One corner of my cube.

Esquire magazine from the mid 60s. The cover says, "Get up from your desk. Leave your sweaty office. Go straight to the South Pacific. Now!" That was good advice 45 some years ago and nothing has changed. It's still good advice.

An artist's rendition of the famous Kahiki Supper Club in Columbus, Ohio. The Kahiki was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1997. That didn't save it from being bulldozed by Walgreens in 2000 for another of their cookie cutter pharmacies. The Kahiki was built in 1961 and was a prime example of Tiki architecture.

Three Tikis on my computer.

I now have two of the Disney Enchanted Tiki Room statues. They flank my monitor.

My work station.

Empty cubes at the Beacon North facility.

Office Space 2

Khan Tiki Mon continues to toil for the man but in some new digs.

2009/11/07 10:00 Yesterday was my last day at the SOC (Syracuse Office Complex). I will start work Monday at our Beacon North facility. The space I am vacating was a cubicle but it was large enough that I referred to it as an "office". My new space will be much smaller and is definitely just a cube. The company I work for has adopted this new policy of smaller spaces and an open work environment. My new space will be Tiki-less at first. I will need to Tikify my new little cube.

2010/02/02 19:00 One of my coworkers, Wally Dengos, gave me this cartoon that he cut out of the New Yorker magazine. He said when he saw it he immediately thought of me. The cartoon portrays a lone worker in a sea of empty cubicles as being deserted on an island. Not long after I moved to the Beacon North facility the company announced plans to abandon that facility. Many of the cubes where I am located now are empty and may not be filled because we will be moving out of the building. My cube looks a lot like an island with the greenery and the Tikis. Add to all that my beard and the fact that the cubes in my office are laid out exactly like the cartoon with the windows in the same place and the cartoon does look like it was drawn with me in mind.
