Thirty-six years of marriage. You realize that is more than 13,000 "What do you want to do for dinner".

"August rain: the best of the summer gone, and the new fall not yet born. The odd uneven time."
Sylvia Plath

"Summer will end soon enough, and childhood as well."

Butter sculpture.

Fun at the Lake house.

2019/08/22 14:00 Another rainy day at camp.

2019/08/20 13:00 Shark sighting at the Lake. Everyone out of the water!!

2019/08/14 17:00 On vacation sort of. Staying at the Lake house on Otisco Lake. Stressful morning. Took my wife to the social security administration. The wife has the patience of a gnat. Then I got a wellness check phone call from my broker. Dow dropped 800 points today and the yield curve inverted for the first time since 2007. Can you say recession?

2019/08/28 13:00 Rainy day walk by the canal with our brellas. Started out a drizzle and turned into a downpour. Feels like the middle of October, not the end of August.

This latest iteration of my rants and rambles will still be much like past versions. I will continue to share way too much information. I will continue to be as weird as always. I am most likely still incredibly boring.

2019/08/17 19:00 The Granty baby and I went out to get dinner.

Sand sculpture.

2019/08/15 13:00 Went home for a bit to check on my grass along with a few other things.

2019/08/18 19:00 Dog survived the harrowing van ride that for a short time felt like The End of Days.

2019/08/27 10:30 Off to the Fair.

2019/08/17 08:00 First thing this morning Elliott says "Pop, I need a whole roll of paper towels". I asked, "What for?" "I did something wrong". Well okay then.

2019/08/19 09:45 Thirteen years ago yesterday I had a heart attack. I am pretty sure that I was supposed to die. Science and modern medicine intervened and I am still here. That is a good thing. You would think someone surviving a near death experience would be happy all the time. Sometimes I think about the movie "Saving Private Ryan". At the end of the movie private Ryan, now an old man, asks his wife something like; am I a good man?, have I lived a good life? A few months back I told my grandson Elliott that I had an appointment to see the doctor. He asked what for and I told him the doctor just had to check that I was okay. Elliott said, "I think you're great. You don't have to go to the doctor". So, I got that going for me. Of late I think I spend more time with children than I do adults. There is a lot to be said for seeing the world through the eyes of a child. It's all good. Peace out my peeps.

2019/08/17 16:30 Storm rolled in. Tornado warnings.

There were a lot of storms while we were at the Lake. The storms caused the internet to be down and spotty for extended periods of time. Tristan was forced to abandon his video games and to play board games with the family. Yeah!

Fireworks after the game. Elliott doesn't like loud noises so he brought hearing protection.

2019/08/20 12:30 Ice cream before lunch. Don't tell on me.

Sunday matinee where we were the only ones in attendance.

2019/08/18 14:00 Wow. Was bringing the dog back to the Lake house. Worst thunder and lightning in recent memory. Driving torrential rain. Half the cars on the interstate pulled over and stopped. The other half including me crept along at twenty miles per hour. The rain was so heavy that it overwhelmed the drains on the elevated highway and the water was over a foot deep in places. If we were home the dog would have been cowering under my desk.

2019/08/29 23:30 Adison and I took Elliott to the Syracuse Mets game.

The Syracuse minor league team used to be called the Chiefs. Then the Skychiefs and then back to the Chiefs. Now it is the Mets. The team mascot used to be called 'Scooch'. Not sure if the mascot is still called 'Scooch'. Elliott calls him 'Pooch'. I bought Elliott an ice cream in a souvenir Mets baseball hat cup. After the fireworks we were leaving and the team mascot was signing autographs and posing for pictures. Elliott was very excited to get his souvenir cup signed. When it was his turn he marched right up to 'Pooch' and handed him the cup. When 'Pooch' handed it back you could see the disappointment on his face. He looked at the signature and he looked at 'Pooch' and he said, "I don't even think these are letters". Part of a generation that will never learn to read or write cursive.
